Historical document, translated for reference. It reflects medical knowledge of the 1920s–30s and is not medical advice.

Summary

Beutelrock is a special type of dental bur used for widening root canals, driven by a dental engine. Due to the high risk of perforating the canal walls when dealing with obliterations or curvatures, these burs have been largely replaced by mineral acids and manual Kerr reamers.

Encyclopedia entry (1928–1936)

BEUTELROCK, a special bur for enlarging root canals of teeth, driven by a dental engine.

Invented by the German dentist Beutelrock.

A negative property of Beutelrock burs is that in cases of obliteration or curvature of the canal, they easily perforate its walls.

At present, Beutelrock burs are almost completely superseded in practice by mineral acids and manual Kerr reamers.
