FROMGOLD Egor Egorovich (born in 1881), prominent therapist, director of the 1st therapeutic clinic of the 1st Moscow Medical Institute; in 1905 he graduated from the medical faculty of Moscow University. F. worked in the faculty therapeutic clinic of Moscow University as an extern, orderly, and assistant under the guidance of V. D. Sherinsky and L. E. Golubinin. In 1911 - privat-docent, since 1920 professor of propaedeutic therapeutic clinic of 1st MSU. Since 1922 F. serves as deputy chairman of the Moscow Therapeutic Society. Since 1928 F. serves as a member of the Board of the Society of Therapists of the USSR and is a permanent participant in therapeutic congresses and conferences, at which he has made a number of program reports: on the pathogenesis of jaundice, on pigment exchange in jaundice, "Pathogenesis and treatment of diabetes mellitus", "Clinic of septic diseases". F. has published about 30 scientific works, most of which are devoted to the pathology of metabolism. F. was twice sent abroad, where he worked in the chemical laboratories of Salkovsky and Hofmeister and visited the clinics of F. Kraus and Wenckebach. F. was the first to be isolated and thoroughly studied urobilinogen and its significance for explaining urobilinuria was indicated (dissertation 1911 "Research on urobilin"). He was the first to experimentally cause artificial urobilinuria. In 1921 he isolated the bile pigment from urine and thoroughly chemically studied it. In a number of works published in "Zeitschr. f. exp. Path. u. Ther." and "Bioch. Zeitschr.", clinical studies on pigment exchange in jaundice have been published. Diseases of metabolism are the chapters published by F. in a number of textbooks. In recent years F. has been occupied with issues related to metabolism during prolonged starvation. Co-editor of the Great Medical Encyclopedia for the therapeutic department.
