GLABELLA (from the Latin glaber, bald), the brow landmark, a triangular, usually somewhat depressed area above the root of the nose between the superciliary arches (arcus superciliares); the skin covering it is devoid of hair, hence the name. It serves in cephalometry and craniometry (measurement of the head and skull) to determine the greatest length of the head and skull.
