Moltchanov Vasily Ivanovich (born in 1868), prominent pediatrician. Graduated from the medical faculty of Moscow University in 1894. From 1896 to 1899 he was a resident, and from 1904 to 1923 an assistant at the children's clinic of Moscow University. During this period, he made several foreign trips and worked in clinics in Germany, Austria, and France. In 1921, he took charge of the department of the clinic for children's diseases at the Higher Medical School in Moscow, and in 1923 was elected director of the children's clinic of the 1st Moscow State University. He has over 50 works; the most important of which are: "The Adrenal Glands and Their Changes in Diphtheria" (dissertation, M., 1909); in several works on the blood vessels of the dog's nose, M. developed his own method for determining the amount of adrenaline in the blood ("On the Question of Determining Adrenaline in Blood", Proceedings of the Moscow Therapeutic Society, 1911-12, p. 381, M., 1913; "Modern Methods of Determining Adrenaline in Blood and Their Critical Evaluation", Russian Physician, 1913, No. 3, etc.); "Vago- and Sympathicotonia in Scarlet Fever in Children" (Russian Physician, 1916, No. 20); "The Clinic and Pathogenesis of White Dermographism in Scarlet Fever" (Russian Clinic, Vol. III, No. 9, 1925); "Disorders of Growth and Development in Children" (M., 1927); "Physiological Data of Childhood" (M., 1921); "On Scarlatinoid Diseases" (Clinical Medicine, 1927, No. 15-16). M.--editor of the journal "Pediatrics", co-editor of the "Central Medical Journal", BME and other publications, active worker in many scientific societies.
