SOLOVOV Peter Dmitrievich (born in 1875), a prominent surgeon. After graduating from Moscow University, he worked from 1898 to 1902 as an assistant under Professor L. L. Levshin in the surgical hospital clinic of Moscow University. From 1902 to 1909, he worked in various district hospitals in Voronezh, Penza, and Yekaterinoslav provinces. In 1908, he defended his dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Medicine ('Gastroenterostomy according to Hacker-Braun'). From 1910 to 1920, he was an assistant in the surgical department of the Moscow Pirogov Hospital. In 1912, he received the title of privat-docent. In 1920, he was elected professor of the surgical hospital clinic of the 2nd Moscow University, a position he held for 4 years. From the autumn of 1926 to the present time, he has been the senior physician of the surgical department of the Botkin Hospital and a teacher at the Central Institute for the Advancement of Physicians of the People's Commissariat of Health (CIU).

In addition to his doctoral dissertation ('Gastroenterostomy according to Hacker-Braun', M., 1908), S. wrote 3 monographs: 'Methodology for the examination of surgical patients' (M., 1922), 'Latent infection in tissues and organs' (Moscow-Leningrad, 1931), 'X-ray atlas of surgical diseases of the urinary system' (together with Frumkin and Mikhailov, M., 1930) and 35 journal articles covering various questions of general and private surgery and surgical urology.

S.'s social work was manifested mainly in his participation in the board of the Society of Russian Surgeons, where he has been a board member since 1913. Since 1926, he was editor of the department of clinical surgery of the journal 'New Surgery'. At present, S. is editor of the department of clinical surgery of the journal 'Soviet Surgery', a member of the presidium of the Society of Surgeons of Moscow and the region, and deputy chairman of the Moscow Urological Society.
