BALANORRHEA (from Greek balanos-acorn, glans penis and rheo-to flow), excessive secretion from the preputial sac of smegma, observed in individuals with a long prepuce in cases of hypersecretion of Tyson's glands. Therapy consists of daily washing of the preputial sac and glans penis with warm water and soap; in severe cases, circumcision should be performed. In BALANOSCIELE (from Greek balanos-acorn, glans penis and kele-hernia), a congestive tumor of a part of the glans penis, resulting from acute strangulation by a short, inflamed prepuce. The disease is rare. If measures are not taken to free the glans, the condition may lead to gangrene of the strangulated part. Treatment--incision under local anesthesia of the constricting ring on the dorsal side of the penis.
