Encyclopedia entry (1928–1936)
BROWN-SÉQUARD TRACT is a sensory pathway (identified by Lewandowski). It originates from the cells of the posterior horn, crosses to the opposite side into the anterolateral column, ascends upward in the brainstem, occupies the outer part of the reticular formation (substantia reticularis), reaches the optic thalamus, and through the internal capsule to the cerebral cortex. It is possible that the second sensory neuron from the nucleus of the trigeminal nerve runs with this tract.
