Janselm, Edouard (Edouard Jeanselme, born 1863), outstanding French syphilologist and dermatologist; from 1918 to 1928, professor of dermatological and venereal diseases at the Paris Faculty of Medicine. Known for his works on the medical geography of Indochina, syphilis in tropical countries and other tropical infections, especially leprosy and beriberi, on the history of Roman medicine, on the scientific development of arsenobenzol therapy for syphilis, etc. The name J. is associated with the doctrine of the streptococcal nature of elephantiasis, the so-called periarticular nodes, etc. J. created a dispensary for venereal patients at the Broca Hospital in Paris; founder of the French League for the Fight Against Venereal Danger; chairman of the association of dermatologists who speak French, etc. Main works: "Cours de dermatologie exotique" (P., 1904); "Le beriberi" (Paris, 1906); "Precis de pathologie exotique" (together with E. Rist, P., 1909).
