Marfan Antonin Bernard Jean (Antonin-Bernard-Jean Marfan, born 1858), one of the founders of French pediatrics, professor of hygiene and childhood clinic at the University of Paris (from 1910). Received his medical education in Toulouse and Paris. For nearly 30 years he headed a children's hospital, and subsequently for 10 years also a foundling asylum. Member of the Medical Academy. Author of numerous works in all departments of pediatrics; most of them are scattered in the periodical press. The major works of M., published separately: "Clinique des maladies de la premiere enfance" (series 1-2, Paris, 1926-28; chapters on anemias, tuberculosis and eczema published in Russian); "Traite de l'allaitement et de l'alimentation des enfants du premier age" (4th ed., Paris, 1930). In Russian: "Introduction to the study of gastrointestinal diseases of early childhood" (Moscow-Leningrad, 1924); "Rickets" (2nd ed., Leningrad and Moscow, 1927) and "Diseases of the gastrointestinal tract in early childhood" (Leningrad, 1929).-M. is the editor and contributor to a number of major guides and editor of the journal "Le Nourrisson" (Paris, from 1913).
