Summary

Shaking apparatus are mechanical devices used to agitate liquids to produce uniform emulsions and suspensions, grind dense masses, prepare extracts, and separate bacterial flagella or cell walls. Various models exist, typically driven by electric or water motors with eccentric or oscillating motion platforms, and some incorporate heating devices with thermostats for temperature-controlled shaking.

SHAKING APPARATUS, devices for the mechanical shaking of liquids in order to obtain uniform emulsions and suspensions. Shaking in shaking apparatus is also used for grinding dense masses, for preparing extracts, for separating flagella from microbial bodies or destroying the bacterial membrane, and the like. There are a number of models of shaking apparatus. Basically, the device consists of a sturdy base with a massive stand attached to it, on which a movable frame with sockets for flasks or bottles is held. The apparatus is driven by an electric or water motor. The frame for shaking various objects has a circular shape and moves eccentrically around its axis; it can be in the form of a gondola, swinging, suspended or sliding back and forth on runners or rollers; the frame can have a casing of some other shape in which tightly
