ROLLER, diminutive of shaft (Latin vallum), a term used to denote persistent elevations that delimit various anatomical and embryological formations; thus, one speaks of the genital roller, nail roller. Sometimes the word roller is used to denote purely functional formations of a transient character, for example, the muscular roller obtained by the so-called idiomuscular contraction of muscles.
