SINITSYN Fyodor Ivanovich (1835 - 1907), professor, major urologist. In 1864 he graduated from the medical faculty of Moscow University, worked in surgery, and after defending his dissertation "On the influence of the cervical sympathetic nerve on the nutrition of the eye" (M., 1871), received the degree of Doctor of Medicine. While on a business trip abroad, where he visited the clinics of Guyon and Dittel, he became interested in urology and switched from ophthalmology to it. In 1878 he received an associate professorship, and in 1884 - a professorship in the department of theoretical surgery. At the same time, he became head of the clinic for diseases of the urinary and sexual organs at Moscow University, which was then called andrological, in which position he died. The extremely vivid lectures of S. attracted a large audience, his speeches at meetings of societies and congresses were always very interesting and distinctive. S. was for a long time the chairman of the Moscow Society of Surgeons and the chairman of the surgical section of the Pirogov Society of Physicians. In the clinic S. was mainly engaged in diseases of the bladder, urethra and scrotum, avoiding large bloody operations. He was a particular virtuoso in stone crushing.

Of 19 works by S., the following deserve mention: "Evaluation of perineal and high lithotomy for bladder stones" (1st Congress of the Society of Russian Physicians, 1885); "Pathological curiosities from the field of urinary and sexual organs" (Surgical Chronicle, 1893); a work on castration for prostate hypertrophy (1894) and "Seminal cysts" (Surgery, 1900, No. 39).
