The table on page 395 presents the data on the chemical composition of the main springs. The mentioned springs also contain traces of cesium, rubidium, aluminum, and boric acid. Ems is well equipped with bathhouses, inhalation chambers, pneumatic cabinets, etc. The so-called "Gurgel-cabinets" (rooms for gargling the throat and nose) are particularly well organized in Ems. For treatment in Ems, the following diseases are indicated: catarrhs of the nasopharynx and upper respiratory tract, after-effects of pleurisy, emphysema of the lungs, asthma, catarrhs of the stomach and bile ducts, diseases of the urinary tract, gout, rheumatism, etc. The water "Kranchen I" is exported in an amount of about 4 million bottles per year. The "Emser-Pastillen" lozenges are also well known. Ems has a large number of pensions, hotels, and a Kurhaus. The treatment season is from May to October.
