Gurzuf, a climatic health resort of national importance on the southern coast of Crimea, located 15 versts east of Yalta and 82 km southeast of Simferopol. It is situated in a valley protected from the north and northeast by the Ayly mountain range and Ayu-Dag mountain. Gurzuf is divided into three parts. The resort itself occupies the central part on the seashore with an extensive beautiful park, equipped with water supply, sewerage, and electric lighting. The old part of Gurzuf is a Tatar village with dusty narrow streets along the mountain slopes. New Gurzuf is a cottage settlement, separated from the sea by a steep climb. Therapeutic means: mild, warm climate of moderate humidity, sun therapy, sea bathing, and grapes. One of the best and well-equipped medical beaches on the southern coast of Crimea, over 2 km long, with fine and medium gravel and a uniformly and gradually deepening bottom. Military-health resort station of the Military-Sanitary Administration with electro-photo-therapy office and X-ray and a department of the Yalta polyclinic for outpatients. Sanatoriums of the Resort Association, hotels and separate dachas for vacationers. Season from April 1 to November 1. Communication with Yalta and Simferopol by automobile highway, with Sevastopol and Yalta by steamboats.
