IVANOV, Alexander Fedorovich (born in 1867), since 1914 to the present time - professor and director of the clinic for diseases of the ear, throat and nose at Moscow University; since 1921, in addition - head of a special department for the treatment of stenosis of the larynx, which was opened by the Moscow Health Department at his initiative at the Prosthetic Institute in connection with the appearance of a large number of patients with laryngeal perichondritis on the basis of typhus. After completing the natural sciences faculty, he transferred to the medical faculty of Moscow University, which he graduated from in 1893. Until 1900 he worked as a surgeon in the railway hospital; at the same time he wrote his dissertation. Then for 2 years he studied bacteriology under Professor Gabrichevsky. In 1902 he entered the clinic for diseases of the ear, throat and nose at Moscow University as an assistant. Ivanov took very active part in the organization and convocation of otolaryngological congresses. Since 1923 - honorary member and vice-chairman of the Moscow Otolaryngological Society. He has 61 published scientific works. The most important of these: "On the treatment of malaria with methylene blue" (dissertation, 1901); "Opening of the bulb of the jugular vein in sepsis of ear origin" (Surgery, vol. XVIII, 1905); "On the sensitivity of the larynx" (Monthly Journal of Ear, Nose and Throat Diseases, vol. IV, No. 9, 1911). A whole series of works on the study of the nasal cavity served as an impetus for the development and spread of operative methods on the accessory nasal cavities: "On the radical operation of the frontal sinuses" (Surgery, vol. XVIII, 1905); "On the technique of extranasal operations of the maxillary sinus" (Monthly Journal of Ear, Throat and Nose Diseases, vol. XI, No. 1, 1916); "Intranasal surgery of the accessory nasal cavities" (ibid., vol. IX, No. 7-10, 1914). Particularly great scientific and practical importance are the works on narrowing of the larynx in infectious perichondritis, first addressed in Russia by the author in the article: "Laryngostomy in perichondritis of the larynx" (Transactions of the clinic for diseases of the ear, throat and nose of the Imperial Moscow University, vol. III, part 1, Moscow, 1909).
IVANOV, Vladimir Vladimirovich (born in 1873), professor, known Russian syphilologist and dermatologist. Graduated in 1897 from the Military Medical Academy; in 1900 defended his dissertation: "On the histological structure of syphilides of the skin" (St. Petersburg, 1900), after which he was sent abroad for 2 years, where he worked at the Pasteur Institute, in clinics and hospitals in Paris (with Fournier, Broca, Darier, Allopp and others) and with the leading dermatologists of Austria and Germany (Neisser, Unna, Neumann, Jadassohn). In 1904 Ivanov received privat-docent status in the clinic of Professor T. P. Pavlov at the Military Medical Academy, from 1913 to 1917 he was professor of the department of skin and venereal diseases at the Psychoneurological Institute, from 1917 to 1924-25 he was professor of the department of skin and venereal diseases at the 1st Moscow State University, then headed the dermatology department of the Institute for the Study of Occupational Diseases named after Obukhov in Moscow. In 1919 Ivanov was dean of the medical faculty of the 1st Moscow State University, from 1920 to 1928 - scientific secretary of the Scientific Medical Council of the People's Commissariat of Health of the RSFSR. In 1912 Ivanov founded the journal "Dermatology", which ceased to exist due to the war; from 1924 Ivanov was editor of the journal he founded "Russian Herald of Dermatology". In 1920-1928 Ivanov was chairman of the Moscow Venereal and Dermatological Society named after Pospelov, honorary member of many societies and corresponding member of the dermatological society in Berlin. To Ivanov's pen belong several dozen works in the field of dermatology and syphilology, of which the largest are devoted to multiple skin sarcoids, the fate of leprosy bacilli in the animal organism, the etiology of papulo-necrotic tuberculosis, the effect of intravenous infusions of salvarsan on the course of syphilis."
