Vladislav Skvortsov Irinarhovich (born in 1879), a prominent pharmacologist. After graduating in 1902 from the Military Medical Academy, he served as a military doctor; in 1906 he began working in the biochemical laboratory of Moscow University under the direction of Professor V. S. Gulevich, and in 1909 defended his dissertation "Comparative study of extractive substances of muscle tissue of calf and ox" for the degree of Doctor of Medicine; in 1910 he became a privat-docent at the Department of Biochemistry at Moscow University. In the fall of 1913, he was appointed Professor of Pharmacology at the Medical Faculty of Saratov University, and soon after the opening of the Physics and Mathematics Faculty there, he was elected Professor of Biochemistry. In 1924 he returned to Moscow and first worked as head of the physiological and biochemical laboratory of the State Scientific Institute for the Protection of Motherhood and Infancy, and in October of the same year was elected Professor at the Department of Pharmacology of the 2nd Moscow State University for the medical and chemical-pharmaceutical faculties. Since March 1926, he has been a member of the Scientific Medical Council. A number of his students are professors and heads of departments of medical institutions and scientific institutes. Skvortsov has up to 40 printed works, of which his pharmacology course (5 editions) is widely popular. In addition, he wrote "Pharmacotherapy" in the textbook "Fundamentals of Therapy" (edited by S. Brushtein and D. Pletnev, vol. I, L.-M., 1925), the monograph "Acidosis and Alkalosis in Medicine" (M.-L., 1927), "Controversial Issues of Pharmacodiagnostics and Pharmacotherapy" (M., 1930), and a series of works on blood enzymes in children, on the study and application of vegetative poisons, etc.
