MEDICAL INSTITUTIONS, appropriately adapted and equipped medical facilities for providing medical care to the population by qualified and trained medical personnel, mainly physicians. In the USSR, the function of a number of medical institutions also includes carrying out preventive measures for the health improvement of the population.
