WIESBADEN, a large city (100,000 inhabitants) and spa resort in Germany, on the Rhine. Located on the southern slope of the forested Taunus, at an altitude of 120 meters above sea level. Climate is mild: average annual temperature +9.3°C. Summer is hot, autumn and spring are the best times of year. Precipitation 603 mm per year. Average barometric pressure 751.4 mm. Relative humidity in May - 66%, in December - 88%. Therapeutic resources: 27 salt springs with temperatures from 49° to 65.7°, with a total output of up to 2 million liters per day. Main springs: Kochbrunnen, Schutzenhofquelle, and Adlerquelle. Temperature of the first +65.7°, output 597,200 liters per day, specific weight 1.00553, solid constituents 8.58 per liter, of which: NaCl-6.83, KCl-0.17, LiCl-0.26, CaCl2-0.64, Ca(HCO3)2-0.39; free CO2-0.19. Temperature of the second +64.4°, output 212,400 liters, specific weight 1.00471. Temperature of the third +49.2°, output 230,400 liters, specific weight 1.00419. The spring water is used for baths, inhalations, and internal administration. Three bath buildings; the largest of them: Kaiser-Friedrich-Bad, with a large inhalation room, hydropathy, electro-light therapy, sand and mud baths (fangotherapy, peat); radioactivity station at Kochbrunnen. There are private bath establishments in many hotels. Of great scientific interest is the balneological chemical laboratory, opened in 1873 by Fresenius. In 1926, the Balneological Institute with a clinical department was established. In Wiesbaden there are 8 private sanatoriums, private physical therapy, X-ray, and mechanotherapy institutes and offices, laboratories. Main indications: obesity, diabetes, gout, diseases of the motor organs, gastrointestinal diseases, kidney and urinary tract diseases, catarrhs of the respiratory tract and others. Wiesbaden is a well-equipped world spa resort; up to 200 thousand visitors gather annually. Beautiful park, flower beds, theaters. Rich surroundings. Season - year-round.
